How to use this database:

Here are some examples of the benefits of the automated database vs manual. Previously each row needed to be manually added to several of the static subpages here.

Today, filters and sorting can be used to request automatically compiled statistics from literally every page from the old website. There are also endless new combinations of filters that can now be applied. If for example we would like to see every expedition with mixed crews, 6 crew members, on the atlantic ocean, rowing east to west, here is the set of filters.

How it was achieved? Go to:

► Crew, and select: six and mixed

► Route, and select: Atlantic and east to west

► Press Filter button

Explore it! It is intuitive and has many surprises! Explore hover.

The former website will remain and will serve as a museum of 4 decades of the administration of ORSI.

The new database is still being tested and we are still collecting feedback and missing data. Please send your missing:

  • Birthday and headshots (only 100x100 pix, chin to forehead, other sizes won’t be accepted).
  • Team picture (1200x1200 pix max, only in or next to the boat)
  • Previous or the following name of a boat
  • Anybody who wants to upload the GPS files (.gpx) of their expeditions, from now on complulsory for all the future rows.
  • If you would like to submit or correct a departure or arrival hour (or other data), please send a screenshot with the correct hour tagged on it.
  • And please send other remarks regarding the website functionality or other data

to fiann@oceanrowing.com

The updates will only be accepted from a person whose email we can identify.

Notes: For Blue Riband Trophy, recalculated into 30 days 4h (from Gran Canaria to Barbados, 2602NM). Blue Riband Trophy was from then on divided into classic and open-class as the fastest classic-class boat in this race (team Atlantic 4 in Talisker 2017) was 38d 14h (39d 4h after recalculation), which was over 7 days behind the classic-class boat Sara G (32 days 1h after recalculation), the Blue Riband Trophy holder since 2011.
