Brain Waves undertook an attempt to row the Atlantic East to West  from  Lanzarote to Antigua as a team of Four, but on Jan 19, 2020 due to damage to the boat, the crew were forced to ask for pick up and were towed to Cape Verde. After the repair they restarted the row as a Trio and are now on their way to Antigua.

For Billy and Alex it is planned to be the first part of the challenge to row two oceans in one year: picking up 2 new crew members – John Haskell and Rachel Hearn – they intend to take on the Indian Ocean, a non-stop crossing from Australia to mainland Africa.

Having already crossed the Atlantic E-W twice (2006/07 - rowing in a Pair and  paddling in 2012 solo on board an ocean canoe) has attempted to paddle solo across the Atlantic Ocean on a stand-up paddle board (SUP), designed and built by himself. Without any cabin or shelter. This is a project of zero comfort and ultra-minimalism.

Departed from Pasito Blanco, Gran Canaria on January 25, 2020 at 7:00UTC

Due to problems with keel returned to land on January 27, 2020.
Plans to undertake another attempt in December 2020
