Dear family and friends,

I received a call tonight from Erden that he was going to attempt a stopover at Kosrae, the eastern most island in the chain of the Micronesian islands.  See:  http://www.visit-fsm.org/

He is about 75 miles east of there now, and has made contact with someone regarding entry and moorage.  If he can safely make it, he hopes to arrive there within the next 48 hours.

So here's an amazing 'small world' story for you (some of you know this!).

In November, 2005 I had the opportunity to travel to Guam and Saipan for a visit on behalf of my work with the U.S. Postal Service, whom I was providing consultation to.  While there, in a meeting with Guam's Postmaster, he introduced me to several other gentlemen who were the Post Master General's of the Micronesian Islands, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.  I remember thinking, wouldn't it be something if somehow these men might be influential in some way to Erden's pending Pacific crossing?  But when I mentioned that to Erden, he said, 'Oh, no way!  I won't be going anywhere NEAR there!  I'll be south of the equator!'  WELL....what do you think he is saying now!

I have put out the word to my former colleague in Honolulu (with the USPS) about making contact with the Postmaster General.  He is one of the men in the photo attached (I forget which one!)  They will no doubt be amazed to learn that this one solo man on a tiny rowboat who has been at sea for 230 days.....HIS WIFE KNOWS THE POSTMASTER GENERAL on this island!!!  Now what are the chances of that happening!  It really makes me think there are no accidents in this life!!!

I will keep you all posted....as will Erden.

As many of you know, I had also been holding off on my trip to Australia to see whether or not Erden would likely make it there.  By late January, when there appeared no hope that he would by mid March, I had to make a decision to go or not.  I decided to go.  I leave this Friday for Sydney and will be meeting up with some dear friends to help facilitate the first Woman Within Int'l weekend training outside of Brisbane.  After that training, with the assistance of my friend and fellow Aussie, Graeme Welsh, he connected me with his cousin, a travel agent in Sydney.  I will see what she might do to get me a cheap flight to Kosrae.

Wow, I can hardly believe that after all the hardship, all the time that has passed, I might, just might be able to see my husband again....SOON!!!!  I haven't seen him since July 6.  I think it is time.

Nancy
